Diss songs are not new in the music industry, and the latest vibe in town is an epic diss track by Kenyan upcoming artist, Alvindo, dubbed Taka Taka. Taka Taka is a simple afrotune song produced by Magix Enga and KRG the Don of the Fast Cash Music Group.
Alvindo is a new Kenyan artist who made his first public appearance last year after releasing a teaser clip of the Taka Taka song on social media. The song was still in its early stages and was a simple lyric video made using Viva Video.
The unofficial Taka Taka was received by music fans warmly and Alvindo’s motivation to make real music was born. The young artist went on to sign a music deal with Fast Cash Music Group and released the official Taka Taka song on mainstream media.
Taka Taka is a harsh diss song aimed at Natasha/Soni, a smooth “criminal” woman who, apparently, rejected Alvindo as her boyfriend. Alvindo vents out his disappointment after falling in love only to be rejected.
“Taka taka taka taka mapepo zinakufuata sijui ata nini niliona kwako ata ningejua ningekatia dadako…”
While we could all argue that this is just music, you can actually feel Alvindo’s disappointment throughout the song. Nonetheless, the young songwriter is on to a great start and being his first song, Taka Taka is already catching on among many music fans locally.
