Just days after the #playkenyanmusic trend began on social media, an upcoming boyish duo, TheBoyBleezy and Madra has released a new song called Matako which has caused a lot of buzz online. Matako is prudishly immature song produced by Hitman Kaht of the Bridge Records which features some vulgar language and intense twerking
Kenyan top artists have been pushing hard to get more airplay on local radio and TV stations with the caption “support local talent”. The campaign has been received quite fairly on average but with a lot of divided opinions. While some believe in supporting their own, some are still firm that Kenyan music is trash and doesn’t deserve any airplay.
Social Media influencer, Xtian Dela posted the Matako video on his Instagram page with the caption #playkenyanmusic, a move that didn’t seem to sit well with controversial rapper Khaligraph Jones. The Yego hitmaker went on to attack Xtian Dela for his sarcastic post.

Oneni uyu sasa? @xtiandela this is ignorance of The highest order, instead of coming up with ideas of how we can work together, you are now trying to be petty and sarcastic, out of all the great music Kenya has to offer, you choose this to try drive a stupid point home?, gathee chunga sana na tuwache mazoeano, I believe you are a smart guy, give advice on how to become better artists other than Making a fool out of them, #respecttheogs #mrinternational
It has been said, time and again, that there is no bad publicity and the official Matako song couldn’t attest to this anymore. Even with the many trolls trending online, Kenyans continue to unknowingly promote the two new singers, TheBoyBleezy and Madra, who for some reason thought it was cool to shoot their Matako song in front of an assistant chief’s office.
