Usually, when something bad happens to a celebrity in Kenya, the reactions online are usually horrible.
However, Kenyans showed a rare side of themselves following the dramatic arrest of Anerlisa Muigai’s parents over tax evasion claims.
After Anerlisa sent out a message to Uhuru asking him to protect businesses from detractors, many Kenyans stood in solidarity with her with some even revealing that they greatly admire her mother Tabitha Karanja.
Here are some of the reactions;
Connie –Kuria…God above all, no weapon formed against you and your family shall prosper stay strong
Key–money…..Our Judiciary is just so rotten!!! How do you harass such people who have contributed to the growth of the private sector for so many years! Whether it’s true or not, they should handle them in a decent manner and communicate formally. I wish that’s how they treat the corrupt governors… Shameless Judiciary! Ksh 21bn on Kimwarer got lost in the hands of a politician, who has been arrested??? Really?
Martha Naomi…Yes, and all the stakeholders concerned. I believe liquor sector is a major contributor of revenue through the heavy taxes imposed to this sector and source of employment…as part of agenda four..kindly protect our liquor manufacturing company and other businesses that are targeted by the said giant companies…
Pretty–Lacey…Tabitha Karanja remains a role model ever since I could understand the concept of one. She has been through so much harassment as a woman trying to make it in a male-dominated industry, 1 and as a competitor to one of the leading brewers in the country. She’s a tough cookie. She’ll get through this.
Dennis Mungai…..Kindly check if the Kenyatta’s are putting up a brewery somewhere??
Nyambai Cynthia…It’s heartbreaking. And this has been going since the days I was a journalist over 10yea ago. It’s a result of corruption, a government can harass a local business in order to protect a multinational! I’m sorry for what you and your family are going through. I’m praying for you all. I love you ?
Mary July….??????Thats true dear….. This is harassment….. Walikua wapi hio miaka yote….. Si kwanza walipe deni ya wachina na walipe workers… ????
Shirunga Thiu…..Sometimes God will make you go through tough situations to test your faith and for his name to be glorified. This is just a passing storm have faith in Him…
Her mum and dad, Joseph Karanja, who is the Chairman of Keroche Breweries are in trouble after the DPP accused them, through their company, of evading taxes amounting to Sh14.45 billion, claims which Mrs. Karanja has since dismissed.
