Drama ensued in Nairobi’s Gachie area on Monday, June 14 after a man found himself in a hard position to disclose his relationship with a minor he had accompanied.
A social media user who witnessed the incident stated that the minor drew the attention of the Matatu tout of the vehicle they were travelling in after she started vomiting.
At his point, the man claimed the minor was his brother’s child.
Concerned with the uncertainty surrounding the minor’s wellbeing, the tout stopped the vehicle and when passersby gathered, the man changed the narrative denying knowing the kid.
The man in question was arrested and the minor taken to the hospital.
About two weeks ago, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) Kenya praised a matatu conductor rescuing a teenage schoolgirl from suspected sexual predators.
Through its Twitter page, the DCI disclosed that the girl boarded a bus in Machakos informing the conductor that she was headed to Mombasa.
At the time, the girl had KSh 500 as her alleged brother had promised to clear the KSh 1000 balance before the bus arrived at Mtito Andei.
Sensing that something might be wrong, the conductor called the man and lied that they had arrived at Mariakani to which the man told him to send the girl to Kaloleni on a motorbike promising to pay the outstanding amount as soon as she arrived.
Concerned about the young girls’ safety, the conductor decided to proceed to Mombasa with her.
The man arrived at the bus office around 8 pm to pick her up, but she could not recognize him as he did not resemble the man she interacted with on Facebook.
