COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has infected more than 168,000 people and killed 7,950, according to the WHO.
The virus which started in China’s Hubei Province has been declared a global health emergency and people have been advised to self-quarantine so as to avoid contracting it.
Among those infected are the world’s superstars. From acting to the sports industry, below is a list of prominent people who’ve tested positive for COVID-19.
1. Donovan Mitchell
The 23-year-old American basketballer who plays for Utah Jazz tested positive for COVID-19 a week ago. He took to social media to thank his fans for the support.
Thanks to everyone who has been reaching out since hearing the news about my positive test. We are all learning more about the seriousness of this situation and hopefully people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them. I appreciate the authorities in Oklahoma who were helpful with the testing process and everyone from the @utahjazz who have been so supportive. I am going to keep following the advice of our medical staff and hope that we can all come together and be there for each other and our neighbors who need our help❤️🕷.
On Tuesday, Donovan urged people to stay safe by practicing social distancing.
I’m seeing people still out and going to bars clubs restaurants beaches etc… as a country let’s help others and stay inside 🙏🏾🙏🏾’ he tweeted.
2. Idris Elba
The British actor, DJ and rapper announced that he had tested positive on Monday, leaving many in shock. The 47-year-old actor revealed that he got infected after contact with a person who tested positive.
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus,’ he tweeted.

3. Callum Hudson Odoi
The Chelse FC winger Odoi also shocked many after revealing he had the virus. In a video that went viral, he said,
Hi guys, as you may be aware I had the virus for the last couple of days, which I’ve recovered from, “I’m following the health guidelines and self-isolating myself from everybody for the week. I hope to see everybody soon and hope to be back on the pitch very soon.
The Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju, who portrayed Tormund Giantsbane in the hit series, through his Instagram revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19.

The vice president of Iran is among the government official to be infected by the virus.
Iran’s deputy health minister, Iraj Harirchi is also infected.
6. Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson
The popular Hollywood couple announced on March 11 they were infected by the coronavirus. They were placed in quarantine in a Gold Coast hospital in Australia and are still there
7. Mikael Arteta
The 37-year-old Arsenal manager tested positive for Coronavirus.
8. Nadine Dorries
United Kingdom’s minister in the health department was the first British politician to test positive on March 10.
9. Blaise Matuidi
The France and Juventus midfielder has been stricken as well. His case was announced by his club on March 17.
10. Rudy Gobert
The Utah Jazz basketball star was diagnosed with coronavirus last week.
