A dormitory in Musingu Boys High School went up in flames just two days after the institution opened its gate for the form 4 students. The school, that is situated in Ikolomani constituency in Kakamega county, had reopened following the directive of resumption of learning from the Ministry of Education.
The Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha had instructed the administrators of primary and secondary schools to recall Class 4, Class 8 and Form 4 students in a phased reopening of learning institutions in the nation.
Misingu Boys Principal had followed the ministry order and recalled his Form 4 students on the 12th of October. The dormitory that had a capacity of 500 students went up in flames mid-morning when the national examination candidates were in class. Police officers have confirmed zero fatilities from the mid-morning inferno.
Investigations to establish the cause of the fire are still underway as police officers promise to dig deep. Sources within the institution revealed that this was the third fire at the school within a span of two years.
