Kenya has been hailed as Africa’s leading travel destination coming atop other Africa’s perceived favorites like South Africa and those in the northern parts of the continent.
The ranking is courtesy of London’s World Travel Awards which also mentioned Nairobi City as the continent’s leading business destination.
Kenya was found unique thanks to her tantalizing cocktail of epic savannah landscapes, immense herds of wildlife, and palm-fringed beaches.
The country also shone in other aspects of the awards, having the national flier Kenya Airways taking it in the aviation category, and several hotels bagging in the hospitality industry.
The Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club’s unique comforts in the shadow of the mighty Mount Kenya helped it clinch the title of “Africa’s Leading Hotel”. Aberdare Country Club, Kenya was voted “Africa’s Leading Green Hotel”.
In the aviation sector, Kenya Airways picked up both “Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class” and “Africa’s Leading Airline – Economy Class”. Ethiopian Airlines bagged “Africa’s Leading Airline”, whilst “Africa’s Leading Airport” went to Cape Town International Airport.
