Just days after the Imenti video went viral on social media, Kenyan upcoming urban hip hop crew, Rico Gang, has released a new banger inspired by the trending video. The new hit song, Imenti (I Meant It), is one of Rico Gang’s biggest hits so far after Serereka and has been received with a lot of opinions on social media. The Imenti song is produced by Alvin Brown Beats and directed by 40 Miles Music.
Rico Gang, being an upcoming Kenyan urban hip hop crew, is slowly gaining a notorious reputation that many music fans seems to like, both locally and across the continent. While their music is rated PG, the crew communicates strong hidden messages in their lyrics and music videos.
Their latest song, Imenti, is inspired by an explicit video that was leaked late this year which sparked a lot of controversies about women and business in Nairobi. Rico Gang, as expected, took on the heat of the video and did a song which has since attracted lots of divided opinions online
Imenti is a PG-rated song which, like many songs in modern music, exposes the true world of moral looseness we live in today. The hilarious cartoon video adds to the lewd nature of the song, an attribute Rico Gang seems to be comfortable with.
In a comment posted on YouTube questioning the moral nature of song, the crew simply said that they were willing to take the risk if it meant getting noticed in the industry. So much for class…
