Kenyan musicians are struggling to make money despite some producing quality music. Singer Akothee, who’s known for spending heavily on music videos is among them.
Most artistes earn peanuts from their sweat and have for a long time protested asking the government to do something.
The Sweet Love hit singer has for the time revealed that she spent millions on a song but the views on YouTube are not something to smile about.
I learnt the hard way 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ and paying for the most expensive videos, I still have a video that I spent over 4 million Kenya shillings and has less than 300,000 views 🤣🤣🤣🤣🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
There is too much hype on these streets. Before you know it, you are broke with no hit song nor bookings. Accept gradual growth MUSIC IS HARD, WITH TOO MANY VULTURES, bloodsuckers but keep pushing,’ she posted.
Akothee had done collabos with several artistes from across Africa among them Diamond Platnumz, Flavour and McGalaxy.
Her latest song was released three months ago but is yet to hit a million views.
